Academic Advisor

Academic Advisors (AAs) play a crucial role in guiding students throughout their studies in the Undergraduate Program of the Department of Social Welfare Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), University of Indonesia. AAs not only assist students in developing their study plans but also provide guidance, motivation, and academic consultation to support optimal learning. The relationship between students and AAs is built on open communication, trust, and a shared commitment to achieving academic success and balanced personal development.

As a liaison between students and the university’s academic system, AAs help students understand academic regulations, select courses aligned with their interests and career paths, and anticipate various challenges during their studies. With a humanistic and participatory approach reflecting the core values of the social welfare profession—such as empathy, empowerment, and social responsibility—AAs act as mentors who encourage students to develop reflective and ethical capacities. Through a strong and personalized mentoring system, the Undergraduate Program of the Department of Social Welfare Science is committed to ensuring that every student receives full support to grow into an excellent and integrated individual.

Counseling Services

The Student Counseling Body (BKM) of FISIP UI is a manifestation of the Faculty of Social Welfare Science’s commitment to creating a healthy, inclusive, and student-welfare-oriented academic environment. Campus life often presents academic, social, and personal challenges that can affect mental health and academic performance. Through counseling services, crisis intervention, and self-development consultations, BKM provides a safe space for students to express themselves, reflect on their problems, and receive constructive support.

All BKM activities are carried out by a professional team upholding the principles of confidentiality, empathy, and non-discrimination. Health Services

Students of the Department of Social Welfare Science, FISIP UI, have access to various health service facilities provided by the University of Indonesia. One of the main facilities is the Makara Satellite Clinic, located in the UI Depok campus area. This clinic provides basic healthcare services for the entire academic community, including general examinations, dental services, mental health consultations, and pharmacy services. With professional medical staff and a service system integrated with student health data, the Makara Satellite Clinic plays a crucial role in maintaining the physical and mental well-being of the campus community.

In addition to the Makara Satellite Clinic, students can also utilize services at the University of Indonesia Hospital (RSUI), which is a modern teaching hospital owned by UI. RSUI provides advanced healthcare services with complete facilities, ranging from specialist polyclinics, 24-hour emergency services, to mental health and rehabilitation centers. As a teaching hospital, RSUI also serves as a practical and research site for students from various faculties, thus becoming an ecosystem that integrates services, education, and research in the health sector.

Addressing Sexual Violence

The Department of Social Welfare Science, FISIP UI, is committed to supporting the University of Indonesia’s efforts to create a safe, just, and dignified campus environment through comprehensive prevention and handling of sexual violence. Support services for victims of sexual violence are provided by the University of Indonesia’s Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (Satgas PPKS), which is responsible for receiving reports, providing psychological and legal assistance, and ensuring that the handling process adheres to the principles of confidentiality, empathy, and justice.

As part of the UI academic community, the Department of Social Welfare Science actively supports the functions of Satgas PPKS by ensuring that all academic members understand reporting procedures and have access to safe and reliable services. Complaint mechanisms are accessible at both university and faculty levels, providing students, lecturers, and educational staff with clear channels to report cases or request assistance. Through this synergy, the Department strives to build an inclusive campus culture free from all forms of sexual violence.

Location and Transportation

The Department of Social Welfare Science is located on the 2nd Floor of Nusantara 2 Building, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Indonesia (FISIP UI), Depok, Indonesia 16424. This building is situated in a strategic area of the UI Depok campus, surrounded by a comfortable, green academic environment, and easily accessible by various modes of public and private transportation.

To reach the University of Indonesia Depok campus, there are several transportation options you can choose according to your needs and preferences:

1. TransJakarta
You can use TransJakarta Corridor 6 (Pulo Gadung–Harmoni) services and continue your journey to the University of Indonesia (UI) bus stop. This service is a convenient and affordable option for public transport users from Jakarta and its surrounding areas.

2. City Public Transportation (City Bus)
Several city bus and Kopaja routes also serve journeys to the UI campus, including Kopaja 6B, 6E, 6F, and 6M. These routes connect various points in Jakarta with the Depok area, including the vicinity of the University of Indonesia. Further information regarding bus schedules and routes can be obtained from the relevant transportation providers.

3. Commuter Line (KRL Jabodetabek)
The UI campus can be easily accessed using the Commuter Line train on the Bogor–Jakarta Kota or Bogor–Jakarta Kota (Loop Line) routes. You can alight at UI Station or Pondok Cina Station. From either of these stations, the journey can be continued on foot, by motorcycle taxi, or by using online transportation to the FISIP UI area.

4. Private Vehicles
For users of private cars or motorcycles, the University of Indonesia campus provides spacious and well-organized parking areas around the faculties. Access to the campus can be taken via Jalan Margonda Raya, then entering through the University of Indonesia Main Gate.

5. Taxis and Online Transportation
Other alternatives include using conventional taxis or online transportation services such as Grab and Gojek. These modes of transportation make it easy for visitors to reach the UI Depok campus with high flexibility, whether from Jakarta or the surrounding Depok area.

Accommodation

University of Indonesia students have a variety of housing options that can be tailored to their individual preferences and budgets.

1. Apartments
Around the UI Depok Campus area, there are a number of modern apartments with complete facilities, such as 24-hour security, internet access, and sports rooms. Apartment rental prices range from Rp2,100,000.00 to Rp3,700,000.00 per month, depending on location, facilities, and unit size.

2. Student Boarding Houses (Kos)
Another popular option among students is boarding houses (kos) scattered in areas around the campus, such as Kukusan, Pondok Cina, and Margonda. The rental prices for kos rooms generally range from Rp1,000,000.00 to Rp1,500,000.00 per month, with variations in facilities from furnished to unfurnished rooms.

3. University of Indonesia Dormitories
For new students from outside Jabodetabek, UI provides student dormitories within the Depok campus complex. These dormitories are designed to provide a safe, comfortable environment that supports students’ initial adaptation process. Monthly rental fees range from Rp200,000.00 – Rp500,000.00.

Food and Daily Needs

The UI Depok campus area offers a variety of culinary options with varying prices.

For economical options, students can enjoy meals at campus canteens or eateries around the campus, with prices ranging from Rp20,000.00 – Rp35,000.00 per portion. Meanwhile, restaurants or cafes within and around the UI area offer food priced at approximately Rp50,000.00 – Rp100,000.00 per person.

For daily needs, weekly groceries for one person typically cost around Rp200,000.00 – Rp300,000.00, depending on individual lifestyle. Many minimarkets and supermarkets are available around the campus, as well as online shopping services accessible through popular applications like GrabMart, GoMart, and Tokopedia Now.

Transportation

The University of Indonesia provides free intra-campus transportation facilities in the form of the Yellow Bus (Bikun), serving the mobility of students and educational staff across the entire campus area. This bus operates every Monday–Friday from 07:00–22:00 WIB, and on Saturdays from 07:00–17:00 WIB.

In addition to Bikun, students can also utilize campus bicycle services, online transportation, or walk on the shady and comfortable pedestrian paths.

Lifestyle and Recreation

Student life at UI is not solely focused on academic activities. The campus provides various sports and fitness facilities, including fields, running tracks, and the Felfest Faculty Club, which is equipped with a swimming pool and a modern fitness center.

Outside the campus environment, students can enjoy shopping centers, cinemas, museums, and entertainment venues around Depok, such as Margo City, Depok Town Square, and UI Museum. All are easily accessible by both public transportation and private vehicles.
